Chef Abby to Feed 50,000 Ghanaians at 8 Locations Across Accra and Kumasi on World Food Day

Renowned Ghanaian culinary figure Chef Abby has unveiled eight distribution hubs across Accra and Kumasi for the second edition of her Big Street Feast, an ambitious philanthropic initiative aiming to serve free meals to 50,000 people on World Food Day, 16 October 2026.

The announcement, made across her official digital channels, outlines designated gathering points, mobile delivery routes, and the operational logistics for the upcoming event. Ghud Park in Accra has been designated as the primary hub for the capital, alongside three suburban distribution parks and two dedicated mobile routes. Meanwhile, Jubilee Park will serve as the central gathering point for Kumasi.

The announcement comes alongside clarification from the organiser regarding venue selection, resource allocation, and corporate sponsorship constraints across both regions.

Distribution Locations and Coverage Routes

To manage crowd distribution and logistics across the Greater Accra Region and Ashanti Region, the organisers have established fixed grounds and mobile units.

Accra Distribution Hubs:

  • Ghud Park: Primary distribution point for central Accra.
  • Fadama Astroturf: Secondary vantage point serving central-west Accra.
  • Madina Sakora Park: Tertiary distribution hub for northern Accra.
  • Kwabenya Market: Fourth fixed hub serving the suburban corridor.

Mobile Routes & Outreach:

  • Accra Mall to Accra Central: A designated float truck distributing meals along the main transit artery.
  • Tema Route: Dedicated Yango transit trucks delivering meals toward Tema.
  • Kasoa Corridor: Dedicated mobile units serving the Kasoa transit route.

Kumasi Hub:

  • Jubilee Park: Central focal point for the Ashanti Region.

Addressing Sponsorship and Regional Scale

Following the venue announcement, public discussions emerged regarding the allocation of sites in Kumasi compared to Accra. In response to public inquiries about hosting a single focal point at Jubilee Park, Chef Abby addressed the financial and operational realities of expanding into new regions.

She explained that while demand across the Ashanti Region remains high, corporate sponsorships and logistical backing for the inaugural expansion to Kumasi were still building. The multiple award-winning chef disclosed that she is personally funding additional meal portions for Kumasi to ensure the venue is adequately resourced.

“We are now introducing it in Kumasi, so brands need to see how it goes before they hop on properly,” she stated, noting that the goal for future editions is to secure broader corporate backing to establish multiple hubs across the metropolis.

Global Significance of World Food Day

Celebrated annually on 16 October under the auspices of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations, World Food Day highlights global efforts toward food security, poverty alleviation, and community-driven hunger relief.

The Big Street Feast 2.0 reflects a growing movement of community-led initiatives in Ghana designed to address food access on a local level through public-private partnerships, individual donations, and volunteer logistics.
