1. Editorial Commitment
PSK Media is an independent Ghana-based digital news and media publication committed to accurate, responsible and useful journalism.
Our editorial decisions are guided by the public interest, journalistic ethics, accuracy, fairness, transparency and accountability.
The Editor-in-Chief has overall editorial responsibility for the publication and is responsible for maintaining these standards across PSK Media content.
2. Accuracy And Verification
We make reasonable efforts to verify information before publication.
Depending on the nature of a story, verification may include:
- Consulting primary or authoritative sources
- Checking official statements, documents and public records
- Contacting people or organisations directly involved
- Cross-checking significant claims with more than one reliable source
- Clearly attributing information that cannot be independently verified
We correct significant factual errors promptly and transparently.
3. Original Reporting And Third-Party Material
PSK Media aims to add original value to the stories it publishes.
Our journalism may include original reporting, interviews, analysis, explainers, official information, publicly available material and appropriately attributed reports from other publications.
We do not present another publication’s reporting as our own.
Where information originates from another source, we attribute it clearly and, where appropriate, provide a link to the original source.
Simply rewriting an existing report without adding meaningful information, context, verification or analysis does not meet our preferred editorial standard.
4. News, Analysis And Opinion
We distinguish between factual reporting, analysis and opinion.
- News reports verified facts and developments.
- Analysis provides context and interpretation while clearly distinguishing analysis from established facts.
- Opinion expresses an identifiable writer’s viewpoint and is presented as opinion.
Headlines and introductions should accurately reflect the nature of the content and should not present opinion or speculation as established fact.
5. Fairness And Impartiality
We seek to report fairly and accurately and avoid deliberately misleading or prejudicial coverage.
Where a story involves significant criticism, allegations or disputes, we make reasonable efforts to seek relevant responses and represent material perspectives fairly.
Fairness does not require giving equal weight to claims that have substantially different levels of evidence. We distinguish verified information from allegations, disputed claims and opinion.
6. Editorial Independence
Editorial decisions are made independently of advertisers, sponsors and commercial partners.
Commercial relationships must not determine whether or how an editorial story is published.
Sponsored, branded or otherwise paid content must be clearly distinguished from independent editorial content.
7. Sources And Attribution
We aim to use credible and appropriate sources for the subject being reported.
Primary sources are preferred where they are available and appropriate.
Information obtained from third parties, social media, other publications or unnamed sources should be clearly attributed.
Anonymous sources may be used where the information is important to the public interest and the source has a legitimate reason for requiring anonymity. Their identity should be protected appropriately.
8. Social Media And User-Generated Material
Social media posts, photographs, videos and other user-generated material are not automatically treated as verified information.
Where such material is used, we make reasonable efforts to establish its authenticity, origin, date, location and relevance before publication.
Social media content should be appropriately attributed.
9. Ethical Newsgathering
Journalists and contributors should act honestly and transparently.
Deception, manipulation, harassment, unlawful access to information and other unethical methods of obtaining material are not permitted except in exceptional circumstances where a compelling public interest clearly justifies the method and appropriate editorial approval has been obtained.
10. Right Of Reply
Individuals, organisations and institutions facing significant criticism or allegations in an PSK Media report should be given a reasonable opportunity to respond where practicable.
Where a response is sought but not received before publication, this may be stated in the report.
If a relevant response is subsequently received, we may update the article where appropriate.
11. Privacy And Dignity
We respect individual privacy and human dignity.
Private information should only be published when there is a legitimate public-interest justification.
Particular care is taken when reporting on children, victims of crime, vulnerable individuals and sensitive personal circumstances.
12. Diversity And Inclusion
PSK Media aims to reflect a broad range of relevant voices and experiences.
We do not deliberately discriminate against or stereotype individuals or groups on the basis of protected or personal characteristics.
13. Corrections And Accountability
When we identify a significant factual error, we correct it as soon as reasonably possible.
Corrections should be clear enough for readers to understand what was changed when the nature of the error makes this appropriate.
We welcome legitimate complaints, corrections and requests for clarification and use them to improve our journalism.
14. Conflicts Of Interest
Editorial staff and contributors should disclose relevant conflicts of interest.
Individuals with a significant conflict should not participate in editorial decisions where that conflict could reasonably compromise, or appear to compromise, independent reporting.
15. Social Media Conduct
People representing PSK Media are expected to maintain professional standards when using social media in connection with their work.
Personal opinions should not be presented as the official position of PSK Media unless expressly authorised.
16. Use Of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence tools may be used to assist with appropriate editorial tasks, including research assistance, transcription, translation, data organisation, brainstorming or editing.
AI-generated information is not treated as inherently accurate and must be independently checked before publication.
Human editorial oversight remains responsible for all published content.
PSK Media does not use AI as a substitute for journalistic verification, editorial judgement or accountability.
Where disclosure is materially relevant to the reader’s understanding of how content was produced, AI assistance will be disclosed.
17. Anti-Bribery And Integrity
Editorial coverage must not be influenced by gifts, payments, inducements or other improper benefits.
Staff and contributors must not accept anything that could reasonably compromise their editorial independence.
18. Complaints And Feedback
Readers and subjects of our reporting can contact PSK Media regarding factual errors, corrections, complaints or other editorial concerns.
Complaints are reviewed fairly and, where appropriate, investigated by the editorial team.
Where an error is established, appropriate corrections or clarifications will be issued.
19. Legal And Regulatory Compliance
PSK Media seeks to comply with applicable Ghanaian laws and regulations relevant to its operations and journalism.
These include, where applicable:
- The Constitution of Ghana, 1992
- The Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843)
- The Electronic Transactions Act, 2008 (Act 772)
Legal compliance does not replace our commitment to higher editorial standards of accuracy, fairness, transparency and accountability.
20. Editorial Transparency
PSK Media aims to be transparent about who is responsible for its journalism and how editorial decisions are made.
The publication identifies its editorial leadership and provides appropriate channels through which readers, sources and subjects of reporting can contact the newsroom.
This policy should be read alongside our About, Privacy, Terms and Conditions and other applicable policies.
